The mission of the Henry's Fork Foundation
is to understand, restore and protect the
unique fishery, wildlife and aesthetic qualities of the Henry's Fork of the Snake River.
This will be accomplished by exemplifying integrity, inclusiveness and mutual respect in
our work, thereby encouraging all users of the Henry's Fork watershed to be actively
engaged in its protection.

The Henry's Fork Foundation is a nonprofit, member-based organization founded in 1984 to
preserve and protect the unique qualities of the Henry's Fork watershed located in eastern
Idaho. The Henry's Fork Foundation is very active in regional decision-making and policy.
HFF is working with local, state and federal agencies with a commitment to better management
of the watershed. Through relationships built within the framework of the Henry's Fork
Watershed Council, HFF has a full understanding of individual interest and regulatory
management in the basin, and can address watershed issues with mutual respect for all
constituents.

The Henry's Fork Foundation has implemented a long-term research program to focus on
aquatic ecology, fisheries, hydrology, water quality, and their impact on the watershed.
Through this research, an on-the-ground stewardship program was developed to apply
research results and thereby preserving the resources by making informed choices for
protection. The Henry's Fork Watershed Center was opened in May, 1995 to serve scientists,
government agencies, and citizens by providing them with the opportunity to understand the
resources in the Henry's Fork watershed. The Center houses a research library and also
serves as the administrative office for the Henry's Fork Watershed Council.
The Watershed Center also houses a Geographic Information System (GIS), which allows us to
analyze spatially distributed data, such as the locations of good trout habitat in the
Henry's Fork watershed. GIS enables us to graphically display scientific results in a way
that anyone can understand. HFF has a powerful Sun workstation and the ARC/INFO GIS
software, which we are using to map the results of our aquatic habitat survey.
If you would like more information about joining the Henry's Fork Foundation, call or write
to us. By pledging your support to the Henry's Fork Foundation you have a voice in how the
river is managed.
